the music reviews
This is theme music and is a change from Celtic music you hear in the offices of dentists. It is unique and beautiful. Gregorian chant and a symphony orchestra are woven with uillean pipes and harps. The story is The Legend of Liadain and Curithir, a poetic fragment of the 9th century. A village is attacked by Vikings. Love is lost, then found and then lost again. The hero is a descendant of Cu Chullain, the greatest Irish warrior. He must avenge his father, killed by the Northmen. This wonderful composition of the brothers Danna is a peerless concept and is impeccably performed. Legend tells us that Cu Chullain was fierce. After a battle, he would be met some distance from his village by a contingent of naked women. They provided him with a series of baths of cold water. The first bath would explode. The second bath would boil. The third bath would cool his blood enough to allow him to enter the village.
