the music reviews
Are you tired of facsimiles of cajun music and badly cooked gumbo? Are you tired of songs sung by your grandmother? Steve Riley And The Mamou Playboys have done exactly what their Acadian ancestors would have wanted. They carried this music to the 21st century. When they cook the crawdads, they leave the heads on! I enjoyed a Louisiana boyhood, but I now live far away. The first time I heard this song, I stopped my Suzuki and I danced. I was more than a thousand miles from Louisiana, yet I felt her embrace! Laisse-moi connaitre.
