the music reviews
Carlos Nakai plays a traditional cedar flute. He is accompanied by a variety of guitars, built and played by William Eaton. These two are strengthened by the excellent percussion of Will Clipman. These musicians are based in Arizona, although Carlos travels the world. The music is exceptional because Carlos, a Navajo-Ute, does not reiterate old musical stereotypes. This is the sound of a Native American person expressing themselves with a traditional musical instrument. The tunes are as fresh as the milk in your fridge. I use this music as an ambient when I am working with leather or wood.
